like breadcrumbs they’re here
memories of who I am
bringing me back home
This is the first time I set out to improvise (on violin) over myself with multiple tracks. (The only other time was the two lines on "Mykonos", on BandCamp). I have long enjoyed improvising over other people's playing, but I've yearned to play off of MYSELF. It was really fun, felt really good, and reminds me of how amazing it is that we have so many opportunities to create beauty - by collaborating with others AND by collaborating with ourselves. It's amazing how much a person can say without words - to others and to one's self. The name of this piece (The Sea) comes from the feeling I get when listening, not from a goal I set out to create. What is it you see/feel/hear? ------------------------ Production Notes: Recorded with a Gold Diaphram Condensor Microphone, using GarageBand '08, on a MacBook OS X 10.6 I started with the guitar track as a base to build from, then improvised three long violin loops, on top of which I improvised one long unrepeated violin track, and one short unrepeated violin track.
